The tropical rainforest biome is most well known for its many exotic plant and animal species. These organisms are considered exotic because of their unique adaptations that they have developed in order to thrive in their environment. Some of these adaptations have been developed so the organism can receive energy easier, others because of the climate. The tropical rainforest is also known for the amount of rainfall, which is annually between 50 and 260 inches. Because if the diversity of the tropical rainforest ecosystem, there are more than 50% of the worlds known animal species in the 7% of the earth that is taken up by tropical rainforests.
